This policy applies to the web app at scheinfit.com, the iOS and Android app ScheinFit and the interfaces (API) through which the apps communicate with the server.

In short

  • You can learn without an account; we create a random guest account for this.
  • We show no advertising, use no tracking services and pass no data on to advertising networks.
  • There are no third-party analytics scripts; product analytics would only run after explicit consent and is currently switched off.
  • The website sets only technically necessary cookies (session, CSRF protection, language choice) – which is why there is no cookie banner.
  • Purchases are made via Apple In-App Purchase; we see no payment data.

What data we process

Guest use: a random device/account ID, your answers, favourites, notes, learning statistics and settings (language, translation, theme). This data is needed so that your learning progress can be saved and synchronised between devices.

Registered account (optional): additionally your e-mail address and – if you provide them – your name or a profile picture. Sign-in by password or sign-in link; with “Sign in with Apple” / “Sign in with Google” we receive only the e-mail address you release and an identifier.

Purchases: if you buy Premium in the app, Apple processes the payment. We receive from Apple a signed transaction with product ID, transaction ID, purchase date and term, and store the entitlement derived from it so that Premium applies on all devices. No payment data, no credit cards.

Technical: IP address, user agent and timestamp in server logs (at most 14 days) and in security events (such as failed sign-ins). Error reports contain no personal content.

Push notifications (optional): a device token, only if you allow reminders on the device; can be switched off in the settings.

In line with the App Store privacy details, the following are collected: contact data (e-mail address), user content (answers, notes, favourites), identifiers (user ID, device ID) and purchase history – all linked to your account and used exclusively for the app's functionality. Not collected are location, health data, financial data, contacts, browsing or search history and diagnostic data. Neither we nor our service providers use data for tracking.

Purposes and legal bases

Provision of the learning, exam and synchronisation functions as well as the Premium entitlement: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO (GDPR, contract). Security, abuse prevention and error analysis: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (legitimate interest). Push reminders and any product analytics: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (consent, revocable at any time).

Translations with AI

Translations and explanations of the official exam questions are generated server-side by an AI provider and reviewed editorially. Only question texts are transmitted – never personal data, answers or notes of users.

Recipients and hosting

Server and database are located in Germany with our hosting provider (processing on our behalf under Art. 28 DSGVO). Apple receives purchase data as part of the in-app purchase; push messages are delivered via Apple (APNs) or Google (FCM) if you enable them. A transfer to third countries takes place only insofar as these services require it and it is safeguarded by standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions. Otherwise we do not pass on data.

Cookies and local storage

The web app uses only technically necessary cookies: the session, CSRF protection and the chosen language. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party scripts – which is why no consent banner is needed. For offline use, the app stores the question package and your learning progress locally in the browser or on the device.

Retention period

Guest accounts with no activity are deleted after 12 months. Registered accounts exist until you delete them; we keep purchase receipts for as long as the entitlement exists and statutory retention obligations require it. Server logs: 14 days; security events: at most 24 months.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 DSGVO). In the app you can export your data or delete your account at any time under Profile → Privacy. Complaints can be lodged with a data protection supervisory authority. Contact for all data protection questions: info@scheinfit.com.

Children

The app is aimed at learners from the respective minimum age of the exam (from 10 years for some fishing exams). It collects no data beyond that described above and shows no advertising.
